Viewing trace files

In your download data you receive a so-called *.scf file which contains the electropherogram (or chromatogram). You can view this file in order to see how the fasta sequence was deduced.

In order to take a look at the SCF file you first have to choose a program. Very commonly used programs for viewing the sequencing data are CHROMAS (for PC/Windows), TraceViewer (for MAC) and Trev (contained in the Gap4 Database Viewer, for UNIX). When reviewing the results of your DNA sequencing in more detail with this kind of software it is possible to get more out of your data.
